We've reviewed an RTX 5080 equipped gaming laptop
While we haven't yet put the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 10 through its paces, we've had the opportunity to test a gaming laptop equipped with the RTX 5080 GPU. The RTX 5080 offers a slight edge over the RTX 4080 in terms of raw rasterized performance, but where it truly shines is in games that support DLSS 4.0 with multi-frame generation. The Gigabyte Aorus Master, featuring an RTX 5080 with a 150W TGP rating and a 2560x1600 display, provided a glimpse into the potential performance of the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i, given its similar specs.
Gigabyte Aorus Master 16" RTX 5080 Laptop Review by Chris Coke
"Here's the thing: Nvidia hasn't been shy about tying the 50-series to its AI capabilities rather than pure native rendering performance. While the RTX 5080's performance is disappointingly close to the RTX 4080, this gap vanishes when you're playing games that support multi-frame generation. The concept of 'fake frames' might be a running joke, but when implemented effectively, it's truly impressive and significantly boosts performance. The impact varies by game, depending on how well it manages latency. For instance, Alan Wake 2 feels a bit laggy at higher multiplier settings, whereas Cyberpunk 2077 does not. With technologies like multi-frame generation and neural shaders on the horizon for future games, there's a strong case for investing in these upcoming innovations. However, you're essentially buying into a promise as Nvidia and game developers continue to integrate these features into new and existing titles."
