It nearly knocked Wednesday fans’ socks off to discover that Lady Gaga would make a guest appearance in Season 2 of the hit Netflix series. Now, fans are getting their first look at her character ahead of the second part’s premiere tomorrow.
The show shared a photo on social media on September 1, showcasing Lady Gaga in full costume — wearing a striking white dress and sporting a mysterious disembodied hand, reminiscent of Thing, resting on her shoulder.
“A vision in venom. Here’s your first look at Lady Gaga as Rosaline Rotwood,” the official X / Twitter account for Wednesday announced, confirming her character’s name and distinctive appearance.

While details about Miss Rotwood remain limited, rumors suggest she may be a new teacher at Nevermore Academy. Since she didn’t appear in the first season or the first half of Season 2, fans are wondering whether she’s a fresh addition to the school or returning after a long absence. Either possibility could fit the show’s dark, mysterious tone, and either way, her backstory and role in the unfolding narrative promise to be compelling.
Beyond her on-screen role, Lady Gaga is also contributing an original song titled “The Dead Dance” for the series. The track will be featured in the second half of Season 2 and will come with a music video directed by Tim Burton himself.
It’s clear the creative team wants to recreate the viral success of the original dance trend that captivated audiences during Season 1. And given Lady Gaga’s massive influence and unique style, pairing her with the show’s gothic aesthetic could be the perfect formula to spark another online phenomenon.
Last week, IGN reported that Season 2 hasn’t matched the viewership success of Season 1. Some fans believe the absence of a new TikTok dance trend — which heavily boosted Season 1’s popularity — may have played a role. Others argue that releasing a show dubbed a “Halloween show” in the summer, rather than the fall, was a misstep. A few also feel splitting the eight-episode season into two parts — despite the short gap between premieres on August 6 and September 3 — may have diluted momentum.
The first half of Season 2 is already streaming on Netflix, along with the full first season. The second half arrives on September 3.
