If you're a fan of *The Last of Us* eagerly awaiting news about a potential Part 3, prepare for some disappointing news. Neil Druckmann, the creator of the series, has significantly dampened hopes of a third installment in a recent interview with Variety. The focus of the conversation was primarily on the upcoming *The Last of Us* TV series, but when asked about the possibility of *The Last of Us Part 3*, Druckmann's response was quite definitive:
“I was waiting for this question,” he said with a sigh. “I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of ‘Last of Us.’ This could be it.”
The question now is whether to take Druckmann's words at face value. Currently, Naughty Dog is fully engaged with their new project, *Intergalactic*, announced at The Game Awards last December. With no release window in sight, it's clear that the studio's focus is on this space-themed game, leaving little room for work on *The Last of Us Part 3* in the near future. It's possible Druckmann might be playing it close to the chest, or he could genuinely be unsure about committing to another sequel. Only time will tell if his stance changes or if he's truly finished with the series.
For fans still hungry for more *The Last of Us*, the television series offers a promising alternative. The second season is set to premiere on April 13 on Max. While Druckmann remains uncertain about how many seasons will be needed to cover the story of *Part 2*, an HBO executive suggested in February that four seasons might be the ideal number to fully adapt the narrative.
