Moon Knight to Return, No Season 2 Planned: Marvel Exec

Author : Julian Update:May 04,2025

Marvel enthusiasts eagerly anticipating the return of Moon Knight to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) may need to adjust their expectations. According to Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television, while fans can look forward to more adventures featuring Oscar Isaac's enigmatic character, a second season of the Disney+ show seems unlikely.

Since the debut of Moon Knight in 2022, Marvel Television has shifted its strategy. Previously, the studio focused on introducing characters through their own standalone series, paving the way for their integration into larger MCU narratives. A prime example of this approach was the introduction of Kamala Khan in Ms. Marvel, who later starred in the feature film The Marvels.

However, Marvel Television has since pivoted towards a more conventional television model, favoring shows with annual releases. "So I think Marvel Television has happened in waves, and I think Moon Knight happened in a wave of shows that were going to establish characters that would tie-in to the future," Winderbaum explained. "And moving forward our priorities have shifted. We’re making shows as shows that can exist as annual releases, more like television. I would love to see a Moon Knight Season 2, but there are plans for Moon Knight down the road."

While Oscar Isaac has lent his voice to Moon Knight in the third and final season of the animated series Marvel's What If...?, there has been no confirmation of his return in live-action format.

Looking ahead, Marvel's upcoming slate of Disney+ series includes "Daredevil: Born Again" premiering in March, "Ironheart" in June, "Eyes of Wakanda" in August, "Marvel Zombies" in October, and "Wonder Man" in December. Despite recent reports of work being paused on three other shows—"Nova," "Strange Academy," and "Terror, Inc."—Winderbaum hinted at exciting developments, particularly the potential reunion of street-level heroes Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist, collectively known as The Defenders.
