Capcom's latest entry in the iconic Monster Hunter series shattered records just 30 minutes after its Steam release, boasting over 675,000 concurrent players and quickly surpassing 1 million. This marks not only the best launch in Monster Hunter history, but also a new high for any Capcom game. The previous record-holder, Monster Hunter: World (2018), reached 334,000 concurrent players, with Monster Hunter Rise (2022) trailing in third at 230,000. Despite this phenomenal success, the game's Steam launch was met with a wave of negative reviews citing technical issues, including bugs and frequent crashes.
Monster Hunter Wilds offers a self-contained storyline, making it a perfect starting point for newcomers. Players explore the mysterious Forbidden Lands, encountering dangerous creatures and the legendary "White Ghost," a mythical beast. Enigmatic Guardians add further intrigue and depth to the narrative.
While pre-release reviews were largely positive, some critics pointed to simplified gameplay mechanics as an attempt to broaden the game's appeal. However, many players and reviewers consider these changes a success, arguing that they improved accessibility without compromising depth or quality.
