How to Unlock the Animal Festival in Fields of Mistria

The Animal Festival is an annual event in *Fields of Mistria*, akin to other seasonal town festivities. If you miss it one year due to in-game commitments or forgetfulness, rest assured you can participate the following year. The festival occurs on the **10th day of the Winter season**, giving you plenty of time to prepare your animals for the event, ensuring they are in top condition to compete for the grand prize.

How to Win the Animal Festival in Fields of Mistria

The highlight of the Animal Festival is the main contest, where you can enter **up to two of your farm-raised animals**—one small (like chickens, ducks, or rabbits) and one large (like cows, alpacas, or sheep). Note that only fully grown adults can participate.

How to Enter the Animal Festival Contest

To enter the contest, make your way to the festival grounds in the town center and speak with **Josephine** at the front counter. She will guide you to the two booths located behind her for entering your animals. Josephine also shares crucial tips that can boost your score. Firstly, the **higher the number of hearts your animal has**, the better your score will be. You can increase their hearts by petting or picking them up, feeding them well, and allowing them time outdoors on sunny days.

Secondly, the **rarity of your animal’s coat color** can significantly enhance your score. Animals with unique colors like pink or blue stand a better chance of scoring higher.

When ready, approach **Terithia** at the left booth to enter your large animals. A menu will appear, displaying eligible animals from your farm. Then, visit **Landen** at the right booth to enter your small animals. Once you've made your selections, return to Josephine and tell her you're ready to **‘start the judging’**.

During the judging, a cutscene will reveal the winners, starting with the small animal category, followed by the large animal category. Winning first place in either category, above Hayden’s chicken Henrietta or cow Sunshine, respectively, will crown you the champion of that bracket.

Prizes are awarded based on your placement. If you're participating in your first year, securing first place can be challenging due to the time required to fully nurture your animals' heart gauges and the need to complete ranch-related quests and upgrades to access rare animals with unique coat styles.
