Microsoft Is Developing Gears of War Collection Without Multiplayer

Renowned Windows Central editor and insider Jez Corden has confirmed reports that Microsoft is developing a Gears of War Collection. Recent rumors suggested the collection would exclude the franchise's multiplayer mode, a claim Corden verified. Competitive online play will be absent, but cooperative gameplay and the main story campaigns will remain.

The official announcement of the Gears of War Collection may arrive at the upcoming Xbox Showcase in June, according to industry sources. While the exact games included remain unconfirmed, speculation points towards the first three entries in the series.

Development on the next main installment, Gears of War: E-Day, continues using Unreal Engine 5 for PC and Xbox Series X/S. Leaks suggest a possible release this year, but Corden believes a 2026 release is more likely.
