Metal Slug: Awakening delivers a modern twist on the beloved 90s franchise. Initially revealed in 2020 by TiMi Studios as Metal Slug Code: J, the game has undergone development and name changes, finally arriving after its Southeast Asia launch in late 2023.

For the uninitiated, Metal Slug is a renowned Japanese run-and-gun series, debuting in 1996 and created by Nazca Corporation. It has since blossomed into a multimedia phenomenon.

While previous mobile entries like Metal Slug Defense (2014), Metal Slug Attack (2016), and Metal Slug Commander (2020) existed, Awakening promises a significant upgrade.

The game retains its core shooter mechanics, enhanced by modernized graphics and innovative gameplay features. Rejoin familiar Metal Slug characters in new adventures, featuring a World Adventure mode, 3-player cooperative Team-up battles, and challenging Roguelike elements.
