How To Complete The Primitive Challenge in Phasmophobia
The Primitive Challenge ranks among the most difficult weekly challenges currently available in Phasmophobia. As its name implies, you must identify the ghost and complete all investigations without using any electronic devices. That means no cameras, no EMF readers, and no night vision—just your instincts, knowledge, and limited tools.
This challenge takes place exclusively at 10 Ridgeview Court, one of the more manageable house maps in terms of layout and escape routes. Keep in mind, as with all weekly challenges in Phasmophobia, you must complete three successful investigations to fully complete the task.
Tips & Tricks To Complete Primitive Challenge in Phasmophobia
As with other weekly challenges in Phasmophobia, this one comes with specific rules and limitations that shape how you approach the mission.
Most notably, you are stripped of nearly all electronic equipment. Flashlights, video cameras, EMF detectors, UV flashlights, and even sanity meds are unavailable. You start with full sanity, which gives you some breathing room, especially early on.
You are given two Tier 1 Crucifixes, allowing you to block up to two ghost hunts if placed correctly. Tier 2 Firelights and a full set of Tier 1 Incense also help keep the ghost at bay. For gathering evidence, you’re equipped with two Tier 3 Ghost Writing Books and two “glowstick” UV lights (which double as your only light sources). Two Tier 1 Thermometers are also included to detect freezing temperatures.
Without traditional evidence-gathering tools, identifying the ghost will rely heavily on behavioral observation. Each ghost type has unique traits that can help distinguish them from others. If you're unfamiliar, refer to our guide or a no-evidence identification cheat sheet.
Your first priority should be locating the ghost quickly. Since there’s no electricity in the house, darkness poses a serious threat to your sanity. Fortunately, ghost activity is heightened in this challenge, making it easier to find.
An alternative method involves using the Ouija Board—a Cursed Object located in the laundry room downstairs, to the left of the dining area. Asking the ghost for its favorite room will reveal its location, though doing so costs 50% sanity. Always say "Goodbye" before leaving the board to avoid triggering a cursed hunt. This strategy works best in co-op play.
