Switch 2 Super Mario Kart World Bundle
Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle
- $499.99 at Best Buy
Choosing the Switch 2 bundle with Super Mario Kart World saves you $30 compared to buying the console and game separately. Keep in mind, the bundle includes a digital copy, so you won't receive a physical game cart or box. If having a tangible copy is essential to you, consider spending the extra $30 on the standalone version.
Yes, the MSRP Is $79.99
When purchased on its own, Mario Kart World is priced at $79.99, which is $10 more than the standard price for AAA PlayStation and Xbox games in this generation. While I'm not thrilled about the price increase, I understand the rising costs of game development. Hopefully, the expansive nature of Mario Kart World justifies the additional expense.
What Is Mario Kart World?
Mario Kart World is poised to be the most ambitious Mario Kart game to date, featuring an open-world design reminiscent of the Forza Horizon series. In Grand Prix mode, you can seamlessly transition from the end of one race track to the start of another.
The game's environment dynamically changes with weather conditions and time of day, impacting visibility and traction. You're free to leave the designated track and explore "virtually everywhere" within the Mushroom Kingdom, as per Nintendo. Each race now supports 24 drivers, a first for the series.
Introducing the new Knockout Tour mode, you can race across the open world, hitting checkpoints with specific placement requirements. Fall behind, and you're out of the race. For a more relaxed experience, Free Roam mode allows you to cruise at your own pace with friends, snapping photos along the way.
Stay tuned for more details during the Nintendo Direct on April 17. In the meantime, check out our hands-on preview of Mario Kart World for additional insights.
