Lionsgate's Monopoly Movie to Get Screenplay From Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves Writers

John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, the creative duo behind the critically acclaimed Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, have been tapped to write the screenplay for Lionsgate's upcoming Monopoly movie. The announcement confirms Daley and Goldstein will adapt Hasbro's iconic board game for the big screen. Margot Robbie's LuckyChap Entertainment will produce.

PlayDaley and Goldstein's impressive resume includes not only *Honor Among Thieves*, but also their directorial debut, *Mayday*, and contributions to major studio films like *The Flash* and *Spider-Man: Homecoming*.

The journey to a Monopoly movie has been a long and winding one. Early discussions date back to 2007, with Ridley Scott initially expressing interest in directing. Subsequent attempts, including a 2011 script by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski and a 2015 version penned by Andrew Niccol, ultimately failed to materialize. A 2019 collaboration involving Kevin Hart and Tim Story also fell through.

However, Lionsgate's acquisition of eOne from Hasbro has breathed new life into the project. This latest iteration, with Daley and Goldstein at the helm, marks a fresh start for the long-awaited adaptation. Here's hoping this version finally makes it past "Go."
