After five long years since its initial announcement, we're finally on the verge of seeing IO Interactive's highly anticipated James Bond game. Originally revealed as Project 007, the officially titled "007 First Light" will make its debut this week.
Earlier today, IO Interactive shared a cryptic teaser on Twitter/X featuring a silhouetted figure—presumably Bond—illuminated by a single light beam. The image carried the text "First Light 007" alongside confirmation of a game reveal this week. The accompanying hashtag "#EarnTheNumber" hints at the origin story premise, where Bond proves himself worthy of the iconic 007 designation.

While the announcement lacked specifics, industry watchers expect the game to appear during one of this week's major gaming showcases, possibly Summer Game Fest or similar June gaming events.
First announced in 2020 under the codename Project 007, details about "First Light" have remained scarce. Confirmed as an original Bond origin story unrelated to existing films, IO Interactive's CEO Hakan Abrak recently expressed ambitions for a game trilogy. Development has temporarily paused the studio's Hitman series to focus on this project. New platforms were confirmed last April, including PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and surprisingly, Nintendo's upcoming Switch 2.
