Idris Elba, star of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, pitches a Cyberpunk 2077 live-action film with himself and Keanu Reeves. Elba, in an interview with ScreenRant, expressed his excitement about the prospect, stating a live-action adaptation would be "Whoa," particularly with himself and Reeves reprising their roles.
This isn't just wishful thinking; Variety reported in October 2023 that CD Projekt Red (CDPR) is collaborating with Anonymous Content on a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 project. While details remain scarce, the success of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and The Witcher suggests a live-action adaptation is a strong possibility.
Reeves portrayed the iconic Johnny Silverhand, while Elba played Solomon Reed in Phantom Liberty. Their on-screen chemistry would undoubtedly be a highlight of any live-action film.
Beyond the live-action film, other Cyberpunk 2077 projects are in the works. A prequel manga, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS, focusing on Rebecca and Pilar, is being released in stages, with chapter one already available in several languages. A Blu-ray release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is also slated for 2025. And finally, CDPR has hinted at a new animated series, keeping fans eagerly anticipating future developments in the Cyberpunk universe.
