ACMI co-curators Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell expressed their excitement about showcasing *Silksong* as a centerpiece of the "Game Worlds" exhibition. They highlighted the detailed aspects of the game, from the hundreds of sprites animating Hornet's movements and attacks to the logic behind the game's challenging boss fights. "We are thrilled to celebrate the design of this South Australian-made game and to have it playable in-gallery. We’re grateful to Team Cherry for trusting us with their work," they stated.
As part of the announcement, ACMI shared a sprite sheet from *Silksong*, which will be one of several design elements displayed in the exhibition. The image, provided to IGN with permission, showcases the game's meticulous artistry.
The news has sparked speculation among *Hollow Knight* fans about the game's release date. Given that *Silksong* will be playable at the museum from September 18, an August release seems plausible. Recent developments, including a brief appearance at Nintendo's Switch 2 Direct and Team Cherry's reaffirmation of the 2025 release window, indicate that the project is nearing completion.
Originally announced for Nintendo Switch and PC, with plans to later include Xbox (and Game Pass), PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5, *Silksong* has been the subject of numerous intriguing teases over the years. Team Cherry started 2025 with a mysterious hint related to a chocolate cake recipe, fueling fan speculation about a potential re-reveal in April.
