The developers of The Witcher 3 planned to include Triss's wedding in the game

In the Witcher 3's "Ashen Marriage" quest, set in Novigrad, Geralt assists Triss Merigold and her fiancé, Castello, with wedding preparations. His tasks include monster extermination, procuring alcohol, and selecting a wedding gift for Triss. The gift's significance impacts Triss's response, with a memory rose (a callback to Witcher 2) eliciting a strong emotional reaction.

However, Dijkstra's revelation of Castello's connection to witch hunters throws a wrench into the proceedings. Castello is revealed to be under duress, blackmailed by the hunters who threaten to expose his illegitimate daughter.

Geralt can choose to reveal this truth to Triss, either alone or with Castello. Regardless of his choice, the wedding is called off. Triss is either disappointed or appreciative of Castello's honesty, ultimately deeming the marriage premature.

This unexpected turn could have further enriched Geralt and Triss's dynamic and provided more nuanced development for supporting characters.
