The Witcher 4 Beta Test Invite Scam
CD Projekt Red Issues Warning
CD Projekt Red, the developers behind The Witcher 4, have issued a crucial warning to fans about a scam involving beta test invites circulating online. On April 16, they took to The Witcher's official Twitter (X) account to address the issue. They reported receiving notifications from the community about fake invitations to a beta test for The Witcher 4.
The official post stated, "We've been taking the necessary steps to take down this fraudulent messaging. If you receive any invites or come across news of one, please report the scam using the tools available in your email client or the social media platform you're using."
They emphasized that any future beta tests would be announced first through The Witcher’s official channels.
First Revealed in December 2024
The Witcher 4 was unveiled at the Game Awards in December 2024, accompanied by a trailer that introduced Ciri as the new protagonist, sparking widespread discussion within the gaming community. This marked a significant shift from the previous three games, which featured Geralt as the lead.
In an interview with VGC, The Witcher 4's Narrative Director, Phillipp Weber, addressed the fans' reactions to Ciri taking the helm. Weber, who also enjoyed playing as Geralt, assured fans that the team is committed to addressing their concerns in upcoming reveals.
He elaborated, "The best thing we can do, and truly our goal, is to show that with Ciri, we can explore many exciting possibilities. This decision was not made lightly; it's been in development for a long time."
The Witcher 4's Executive Producer, Małgorzata Mitręga, expressed appreciation for the support received regarding Ciri's new role. "Everyone has the right to their opinion, and we believe it stems from a deep passion for our games. The best response will be the game itself upon release," he remarked.
The developers have described The Witcher 4 as the most ambitious installment yet, promising new regions and monsters. The game is slated for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, though a specific launch date remains undisclosed. Stay tuned to our updates for the latest on The Witcher 4!
