Deltarune’s Console Testing Going Smoothly

Saves Eventually Can Be Transferred To The Main Game

On his official Bluesky account, Toby Fox, the visionary behind Deltarune and Undertale, provided an update on the ongoing console testing. Despite the workload ahead, Fox reassured fans that progress is moving smoothly. "Still console testing. There are fewer bugs, but there's a lot to go through. (Haven't even tested PS5 yet)," he shared, highlighting that the team is not only refining Chapters 3 and 4 but also working on a feature to allow saves from the demo (Chapters 1 and 2) on consoles to carry over to the full game. "I hope it works!" Fox optimistically added, noting that they've only recently acquired the necessary technology for this feature. With testing showing promising results, the release of Deltarune’s Chapters 3 and 4 in 2025 seems closer than ever, as confirmed by Fox on his Bluesky.

Fox Namedrops New Character, Tenna

Despite the intense focus on ensuring Chapters 3 and 4 are polished for release, Toby Fox continues to engage fans with his signature blend of internet memes and humorous updates. The indie developer shared a light-hearted anecdote on social media: "I showed my family and friends a minigame I've been working on for DR (Deltarune) and they all described it as ‘a cry for help because your game is not out’." His family found it amusing, while a friend laughed for "about 10 minutes straight."

This has led some fans to speculate that the minigame might be part of the forthcoming Chapter 5, as Fox previously mentioned in 2024 that Chapters 3 and 4 were content-complete. Deltarune is planned to span seven chapters in total.

In the same post, Fox also teased the introduction of a new character named Tenna. "Same friend who played Chapter 3 like over a year ago also told me ‘I miss Tenna’ and I was like ‘man that's something no one in the world has ever said huh’." Tenna, first glimpsed during the Spamton Sweepstakes campaign for the Child’s Play charity in September 2022, will make an appearance in Chapter 3, as confirmed by Fox's mention.

Deltarune serves as a companion piece to the acclaimed 2015 game Undertale, retaining many of its gameplay mechanics and unique quirks while introducing a fresh narrative and new characters. Players will join Kris, Susie, and Ralsei on their quest to save the world, eagerly awaiting the continuation of their journey in Chapters 3 and 4.
