Recently, Hideo Kojima presented actress Shiori Kutsuna with flowers, acknowledging her contributions to the game. Kojima's message expressed gratitude for her dedication, citing motion capture work in Los Angeles, 3D scanning, and voice recording (both Japanese and English) across multiple locations, all while navigating pandemic-related challenges.
Kutsuna's involvement reportedly began in the fall of 2022. At Tokyo Game Show 2024, Kojima showcased Death Stranding 2: On the Beach with several two-minute cutscenes introducing key allies to the protagonist.
Notable cast members and their roles include: George Miller as Tarman, captain of the Magellan mobile base; Fatih Akin as Dollman, a former medium; Léa Seydoux reprising her role as Fragile; and Elle Fanning as Tomorrow, a mysterious character discovered in a death-like realm. This last character's name is intriguing, given the original Death Stranding tagline: "Tomorrow is in your hands."
One scene features the characters singing Burt Bacharach and Hal David's "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head" while interacting with a pregnant woman named Rainy (played by Shiori Kutsuna).
