Confront Wakasa or Otama in Assassin's Creed Shadows: A Guide

Author : Amelia Update:Mar 31,2025

In *Assassin’s Creed Shadows*, not every decision carries significant weight, but choosing to confront Wakasa or Otama during the "The Tea Ceremony" mission has lasting consequences that can shape the rest of your campaign. Both characters present compelling reasons to be suspicious, but there's a clear choice that simplifies the quest considerably.

Should You Confront Wakasa or Otama in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?

After the tea ceremony, it's crucial to confront Wakasa, who is revealed to be the Golden Teppo of the Onryo. Confronting her leads to a straightforward resolution of the mission. When you confront Wakasa, she'll invite Naoe to her home for a private discussion. Upon entering her abode, the presence of the kasa (straw hat) worn by the Onryo during the prologue hanging on her wall confirms your choice. After some dialogue, Naoe can swiftly end the mission by grabbing Wakasa's Teppo from the wall and shooting her at point-blank range.

What If You Confront Otama in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?

Opting to confront Otama after the tea ceremony still allows you to eliminate Wakasa, but it complicates the process. Choosing Otama leads Naoe to chase and kill her. A letter found on Otama indicates her own corruption, but this decision allows Wakasa time to fortify herself with soldiers in Osaka Castle.

To reach Wakasa, you must travel to Osaka Castle, either fighting through her soldiers or attempting to sneak past them. Even if you unlock the nearby Osaka Tenshu fast travel point, you'll still face standard enemies. Even a successful stealth assassination on Wakasa won't be enough, leading to a one-on-one confrontation. While the boss fight isn't overly challenging, confronting Wakasa directly after the tea ceremony is far less troublesome and more satisfying, especially given her role in Naoe's father's death.

Understanding the optimal choice after the Tea Ceremony mission is vital. To prepare for tougher challenges, learn how to gain XP and level up quickly in *Assassin’s Creed Shadows*. Additionally, discover how to accumulate Knowledge Points to unlock new skills for Naoe and Yasuke.

*Assassin’s Creed Shadows is available now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.*
