Firaxis Games has exciting news for fans eagerly awaiting the release of Civilization 7 (Civ 7) on February 11. The developers have unveiled a detailed roadmap of what players can expect in the coming months, promising an array of new content and updates to enhance the gaming experience.
Civ 7 Roadmap Revealed, Includes Free Updates
Firaxis Games has shared a comprehensive roadmap ahead of Civ 7's launch, detailing four new content releases scheduled for March. Just days before the game hits the shelves, the developers have already given us a glimpse into the exciting updates coming in early and late March. These updates are categorized into three groups: Content Collections (paid DLCs), Free Updates, and Events & Challenges. Here's what's coming in March:
In addition to the March updates, the developers have teased the inclusion of two new Leaders, four new Civilizations, and four World Wonders in future releases. This also promises new events and challenges for players to dive into. Although specific release windows for this additional content haven't been disclosed yet, players can look forward to more content rolling out in October 2025 and beyond.
Firaxis Games has also shared a list of planned updates that "didn’t quite make it in for our initial launch." While there are no confirmed release dates for these updates, the team assures that "developers are already assigned to get them out to you as soon as we can." These upcoming updates include:
- Adding Teams to multiplayer
- Expanding the number of players in multiplayer mode to 8
- Allowing players to pick "starting and ending Age"
- Creating "a wider variety of map types"
- Adding hotseat in multiplayer
