Capcom Hints at Resident Evil 9 in New Video Celebrating 10M RE4 Players

Author : Ryan Update:May 13,2025

Capcom has subtly teased the upcoming Resident Evil 9 in a video celebrating the 10 million player milestone for Resident Evil 4. Released on April 25, 2025, the video features Ada Wong conversing with a notorious villain, followed by a scene where Leon is surrounded by infected enemies wearing party hats, humorously making their way to a church. The video then transitions to a rock song, showcasing Dr. Salvador playfully strumming a chainsaw as if it were a guitar, with Leon energetically fist-pumping in the foreground. A rustic "Thank you for playing" sign is visible behind him.

The intriguing part comes when the "Thank you for playing" sign is rotated sideways, revealing the Roman numeral "IX" formed by the planks, hinting at Resident Evil 9. While this could be dismissed as a mere coincidence, horror game insider Dusk Golem pointed out that the lower plank, which forms the "IX," is conspicuously absent in earlier parts of the video, suggesting it was intentionally added. This observation has sparked speculation among fans.

One fan reacted with surprise, commenting, "I know what you did here," accompanied by a wide-eyed emoji, indicating the community's keen attention to these details.

Capcom has officially announced that Resident Evil 9 will be helmed by Koshi Nakanishi, the director behind Resident Evil 7. Reflecting on his journey post-Resident Evil 7, Nakanishi said at the time, "It was really difficult to figure out what to do after [Resident Evil 7]. But I found it, and to be honest it feels substantial. I can't share any details just yet, but I hope you're excited for the day I can." Rumors suggest, though not confirmed, that the game might be set on an island inspired by Singapore, adding to the anticipation surrounding this next installment in the iconic horror series.
