Brotato: New Dawn Update Adds Fresh Features

Author : Mia Update:Dec 08,2025

  • The New Dawn DLC is coming to mobile devices shortly
  • Additional save slots, a Codex feature, and numerous quality-of-life enhancements
  • Six new items join the arsenal, including the Vorpal Sword

A new chapter unfolds for Brotato. Evil Empire, the development studio that took over from Blobfish last month, has released its first major content update for the popular roguelite shooter. Called New Dawn, it's available now on PC, with console and mobile versions following in approximately one month. This marks the initial step in Evil Empire's strategy to synchronize all platforms by 2026.

If you're familiar with Dead Cells or The Rogue Prince of Persia, you already know Evil Empire's commitment to post-launch content. That same dedication is evident here. New Dawn introduces multiple quality-of-life improvements, including a brand new Ban system that allows players to exclude up to eight unwanted items during a run (though weapons cannot be banned).

The update also provides three additional save slots, perfect for managing different build strategies, plus a Codex that functions as an in-game wiki tracking weapons, items, and even your alien elimination count. You can see all these features in the video overview below.

Naturally, an Evil Empire update wouldn't be complete without new equipment. Six new items enter the rotation, ranging from the spectral Will-o'-Wisp to the aptly named Fruit Basket, each introducing fresh dynamics to your builds. Then there's the Vorpal Sword, the update's standout weapon that switches between thrusting and sweeping attacks. And yes, it can eliminate enemies with a single strike.

This represents the first major update since late 2024, and it appears to be just the beginning. Evil Empire has confirmed ongoing support for Brotato, ensuring a bright and violent future for the game.
