In *Monster Hunter Wilds*, your pursuit of the mysterious dragon leads you into a fierce confrontation between Rey Dau and the beast. The situation escalates quickly as the enraged monster sets its sights on your group, turning the hunt into a battle for survival.

Rey Dau is the first dragon monster you'll encounter in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. This creature wields the lightning element, rendering it immune to lightning-based attacks. However, it's particularly vulnerable to water and ice. The most effective target is its head, boasting a 4-star weakness. The wings are also a good spot to attack, with a 3-star weakness.

Avoid targeting the torso, as it's heavily armored. If hitting the head proves challenging, aim for the tail instead. The legs are less ideal due to their strong protection. For status ailments, all are effective except for Stun and Paralysis, given Rey Dau's lightning affinity.

Use a Flash Pod

A key strategy to swiftly defeat Rey Dau is deploying a Flash Pod. This tool temporarily stuns the monster, providing a window to land critical hits. When Rey Dau unleashes its lightning attack, aim for its horn, which will glow bright red in Focus Mode, to inflict significant damage.

Wear Element-Resistant Gear

To enhance your survivability, equip gear that boosts your resistance to elements. The Hope Armor set, with its Divine Blessing skill, reduces incoming damage and offers resistance to Lightning and Fire. Additionally, consuming a meal that increases elemental resistance can be beneficial. If dodging is a challenge, position yourself near Rey Dau's legs, as the monster primarily attacks in front and behind, minimizing your risk of getting hit.

Pay Attention to the Environment

Rey Dau's mobility during the fight requires you to be aware of your surroundings. In the open plains, utilize Vine Traps found on lone trees to momentarily stun the monster. Be cautious when Rey Dau returns to its nest, as it may follow up with a lightning attack that can easily stun you. Patience is key to avoid a fatal shock.

Beyond battling Rey Dau to the death, capturing it in *Monster Hunter Wilds* can yield valuable rewards. To capture Rey Dau, reduce its health until it's on the brink of death, indicated by a skull icon near its icon on the mini-map. At this point, deploy a trap to ensnare the monster.

Given Rey Dau's lightning nature, avoid using Shock Traps. Instead, opt for a Pitfall Trap for a successful capture. Follow up with a Tranquilizer to prevent the dragon from escaping. Timing is crucial, as you only have a brief window to act.
