Extinction concludes the main ARK narrative, presenting a unique set of challenges distinct from those in Scorched Earth and Aberration. The landscape is a post-apocalyptic wasteland where water is scarce, compelling survivors to innovate for resources. This map unfolds the backstory of the Ark system's creation, set against a backdrop of chaos and destruction.

Alongside the new map, several updates have been released. Players can now benefit from a new Thick Skin insulation buff to aid survival. In multiplayer PVE, creatures will move from camped locations to prevent griefing. Additionally, the number of light sources that can be placed has been limited to reduce spammy constructions.
